Continental Retail Development is developing The Streets of Tanasbourne in Portland, OR. The shopping center is located in an 850-acre mixed-use development containing more than two million sq.ft. of office space, 4,000 residential units and a 550-room hotel. The retail project will be cotenanted by Abercrombie and Fitch, Hollister, Chico’s, Ann Taylor, American Eagle and a 160,000 sq.ft. Meir and Frank Department Store. The shopping center is scheduled to open during Spring 2004. The company also received commitments from PF Chang’s, Bravo!, Barnes & Noble, Champps, Mitchell’s Fish Market and a 75,000 sq.ft. Dicks Sporting Goods store for The Streets of West Chester, located off of the Interstate 75/Interstate 275 interchange in Cincinnati, OH. The $100 million project will feature 500,000 sq.ft. of retail and entertainment, 400 apartments and 150,000 sq.ft. of class A office space. Phase I of the project is scheduled to open in May and the remainder is slated for a Fall opening.

Brownfield Realty is redeveloping the 800 block of Hamilton Street in Allentown, PA. The property is located near banks, bus stops, coffee shops, drug stores and restaurants. The company is offering space in its project at $13 psf to $16 psf and is seeking lease commitments from a restaurant for 10,000 sq.ft. on the first floor. Directly opposite to the site, Liberty Property Trust is developing an eight-story office building.

Park Place Entertainment, Inc. is converting Caesars Shops at Ocean One in Atlantic City, NJ into a Monopoly-themed restaurant, shopping and entertainment extravaganza. In addition, the $1 billion Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa is opening this summer. It will be the first new casino in Atlantic City in 13 years.

Greater Toronto Airports Authority is developing the expansion of Pearson International Airport. The first phase of the $4.4 billion expansion is expected to be completed by October. The company is issuing an invitation for Expressions of Interest to lease, develop, and operate specialty retail facilities. New concession opportunities include both existing and new terminals. Interested parties may propose one or more concepts and will be short-listed to participate in a Request for Proposals process. The company is also offering 12 locations at Terminal one and Terminal three, encompassing more than 8,500 sq.ft. of retail space. Developments include the 48-gate "T-New" facility, which is expected to process more than 22 million passengers by 2005, the expansion of Terminal 3, which will accommodate more than 10 million passengers and the completion of an 11-gate international in-field terminal facility.

Sandyport Development Co., Ltd. recently opened Olde Towne Mall in Nassau, Bahamas. The first stage of the center is completed. When the project is fully built out, it will comprise 60 shops. The first phase of stores, which occupy a space of 16,000 sq.ft. is almost completely leased. Some of the stores already opened for business include Miracles Day Spa and Beauty Salon, Floral Boutique Etc., Mrs. B’s Candle Factory, The Home Store, The Cozy Corner Pub and West Side Cafe.

Tanger Factory Outlet Centers, Inc. plans to add 35,000 sq.ft. to its shopping center in Sevierville, TN at a cost of $4 million and an expected return of 13%. After the expansion, the center will encompass 418,000 sq.ft.

Enhanced Affordable Development Co. is developing Grandon Village, a $22 million site in San Marcos, CA. The project is an age-restricted community for seniors 55 and older. The development will provide 161 units of affordable rental housing, which comprises three, three-story apartment buildings with 52 one-bedroom and 109 two-bedroom units. The complex will offer 11,000 sq.ft. of retail space, designed for service businesses to cater to the needs of the residents in Grandon Village, as well as the neighboring area.

Struever Bros. Eccles & Rouse, Inc. was selected by Johns Hopkins University to build and manage a retail, student housing and parking complex on the university-owned land at Charles Village in Baltimore, MD. The development, which is expected to be complete by fall 2005, is located between North Charles and St. Paul Streets. Construction is expected to begin sometime next year.

North Eastern Strategic Alliance is planning to develop an international business center at the Myrtle Square Mall, owned by Burroughs & Chapin Co., Inc. in Myrtle Beach, SC. The business center would take four to five years to develop. Myrtle Square Mall is expected to be displaced by Mall of South Carolina, which is under construction along U.S. Bypass 17. Opening is slated for 2004.
