Feature Branded Concept Development gets in the
same corner with Church Street Boxing Mike Tyson, Evander Holyfield and Roy Jones Jr. All three championship fighters have taken the bell during a Friday night at the Church Street Boxing Gym. Now the historic facility is about to get a new sparring partner – Branded Concept Development. Branded Concept Development is a real estate, design and construction firm that provides an outsourced alternative for branded restaurant and retail concepts. But with Church Street Boxing, BCD will be the exclusive real estate broker. Established in 1997, Church Street Boxing Gym has earned a solid reputation in both the boxing and fitness industries. It’s the only gym in the area that has a coaching staff which completely comprises competitive athletes. One of the most popular aspects of the gym is its ongoing Friday Night Fight Series. About 10 times a year, the gym is transformed into an arena featuring various types of full contact entertainment, everything from “White Collar Boxing” to Muay Thai Boxing, as well as amateur boxing. Seeking to build on this success, Church Street Boxing is seeking expansion opportunities throughout Manhattan, but only south of 14th Street. The gym features include: an 8,000 sq.ft. facility located in downtown Manhattan; 20-foot high ceilings throughout (though the ceilings can go as low as 14 feet); black and white murals including an 18-foot high “Joe Louis;” hard wood floors; two full-sized elevated boxing rings; a fully-equipped private boxing gym on site and secluded from main gym area; an 80-foot long catwalk; Manhattan brick wall; two gym areas which allow for two distinct views. “Everyone is there to learn and get their training done,” said Thomas Kerbleski, who, along with Alexandra Turboff, is representing the gym for Branded Concept Development. “People aren’t there to show off. There’s no reason to, because everyone there knows that there’s always someone bigger and better than them. But the members are all very professional people and with the trainers you get a good workout and you feel like you’re learning something at the same time.” But for the yuppie types don’t expect to see any plush couches or cappuccino being served. Church Street is known for a rugged look with exposed brick. However, the flip side of the coin is that on Friday nights, the gym also hosts “White Collar” sparring sessions that last three rounds each. The space of the gym has to have access to hold 300 people with two exits. When the Church Street Boxing Gym opened eight years ago it immediately became known for its Friday Night Boxing. This year, the Friday Night Fight Series will have a dedicated and fully comprehensive website so fans can obtain scheduling info, event results information and images. Fans will even be able to order their tickets online. Just late last year, the gym saw the return of Felix Trinidad, who did his final days of training at Church Street before stepping into the ring at Madison Square Garden. Trinidad has been known to frequent Church Street. Church Street also will again provide Muay Thai Boxing with More Muay Thai For Your Money. Professional boxer Francisco Burgos has returned to Church Street to teach Muay Thai classes on Mondays and Wednesdays at 7 p.m. The gym boasts that regardless of a person’s skill or fitness level it has a program they will feel comfortable with.
