The Ghazi Company and Cornelson Property Group are developing a $15 million mixed-use project at Lake Norman, NC called Harbor Pointe Village. The 100,000 sq.ft. development will be located on 8.5 acres of waterfront. The $6.5 million first phase of the project will include 7,000 sq.ft. for shops and 5,000 sq.ft. for a restaurant and will be completed by March or April 2002. Madison Marquette and California Urban Investment Partners are developing Bay Street, a $400 million urban village in Emeryville, CA. Located on 19 acres in the San Francisco Bay area, the one million sq.ft. mixed-use development includes retail, residential, hotel and entertainment components. Bay Street will include 400,000 sq.ft. of entertainment and lifestyle retail shops, 230 residential lots and apartments, a 200-room hotel and a 2,000-car parking structure. The three-block center will be designed with a Main Street style-theme and will house a 16-screen AMC theater and restaurants such as Buckhorn, California Pizza Kitchen, MacArthur Park, Pasta Pomodoro, Prego, Rubio’s Baja Grill and Zao Noodle Bar. National retailers tenanting the center include Ann Taylor Loft, Baby Gap, Banana Republic, Barnes & Noble, Gap, Old Navy, Pottery Barn, Pottery Barn Kids and Williams Sonoma. New London Development Corp. has proposed a $22 million plan to renovate the Crocker House and the Cronin and Bacon Buildings in downtown New London, CT, creating apartments and stores. Renovations to the Crocker House, which was built in 1872 and is located on 166 State Street, will include the creation of 59 housing units and 16,000 sq.ft. of retail space at street level. The Bacon Building was built in 1868 and is located at 128 State Street. Renovations will include 4,700 sq.ft. of retail space and 14,000 sq.ft. for 15 residential units. The Cronin Building, which is located at 78-88 State Street and was built in 1860, will be renovated with 38 units of residential space and retail space at street level. The company’s downtown project also includes the Parade development, which is a 200,000 sq.ft. mixed-use retail and entertainment center that would bring movie theaters, restaurants and retail spaces, including a major bookstore, to the downtown area. The Pyramid Companies is developing a five million sq.ft. retail and entertainment center in Syracuse, NY named DestiNY USA. The complex will house shopping, entertainment, recreation, dining and hospitality components. The project represents a $1.3 billion private-sector investment and entails the expansion of the Carousel Center in Syracuse, which currently is 1.6 million sq.ft. Development of the 800-acre complex is set to begin in Spring 2002. The complex will include more than 400 retailers, restaurants and recreational activities and more than 2,000 hotel rooms. The center also will include a 90,000 sq.ft. saltwater aquarium, a 500,000 sq.ft. multifield indoor sport and recreation complex, a 65-acre glass-enclosed park and a 1,500 foot-long replica of the Erie Canal. The project’s five-story atrium will house a $25 million, 50,000 sq.ft. International Tourism and Exposition Center designed to market the upstate NY region. Grand Peninsula will be marketed as a masterplanned development with a variety of home and lot sizes, neighborhood retail, schools and amenity centers. The single-family development has a 15-acre site for a grocery-anchored project, a two-acre parcel for a convenience store and additional tracts for community retail.
