Festival Bay
Orlando, Florida

Orlando, Florida, “The World’s Number One Vacation Destination,” is about to be given even more ammunition to maintain that distinguished reputation. Festival Bay is a 1,074,800-sq.ft. lifestyle complex and shopping destination that is slated to open its doors in the fall of 2000. The project, being developed by Belz Enterprises, will feature entertainment components, specialty retailers and interactive restaurants presented in a style that will uniquely reflect the Florida lifestyle in architecture, attitude and tenant mix.

More than 600,000 sq.ft. have been allocated to nationally recognized retailers, and 250,000 sq.ft. will go to fashion-forward specialty retailers, entertainment components and a number of interactive restaurants. Festival Bay’s anchors are Bass Pro Shops-Outdoor World, which has signed a lease for 162,000 sq.ft., and Cinemark USA, Inc., which has signed on for 85,000 sq.ft. to house Orlando’s first 20-screen, all-stadium megaplex.

Strategically located along International Drive, the project is anchored to the north by Universal Studios and to the south by Sea World. International Drive boasts more than 25,000 hotel rooms, which is the largest concentration of rooms outside of Disney World. More than 38 million people come to visit Orlando every year, and 15 million of those visitors pass the future site of Festival Bay.

Festival Bay complements Belz Enterprises’ already existing empire on International Drive, which includes the Belz Factory Outlet World, Belz Designer Outlet Centre and the company’s 900-room convention center/hotel, The Peabody Orlando. Belz brought in renowned architect John Jerde to handle the design specifications for Festival Bay and Retail Estate, Inc. to manage the leasing.

Ron Jon Surf Shop will open a 50,000-sq.ft. surf emporium, second in size only to its Cocoa Beach location. Another 50,000 sq.ft. will be leased by skateboarding apparel and shoe retailer Vans, Inc. Vans will build its first “Skate Park” in the Orlando area.
