Porto Cima
Lake of the Ozarks, Missouri
Usually when one thinks of the Ozarks, the first thought is of the simple life in
the country. Developer Peter Brown of Four Seasons Group is about to give Missouris
Lake of the Ozarks a completely new image. A new community is being constructed that will
be modeled after the coastal villages of the Italian Riviera (e.g. Porto Fino, the
developments inspiration). The master plan will feature a Jack Nicklaus championship
golf course, already under construction, as its main attraction.

|
Architects and designers from the Hulbert Group
International are currently in Italy, putting the finishing touches on Porto Cimas
design specifications. The project developers are looking to convey a provincial feel for
this lakeside community by establishing a waterfront housing district and marinas to go
along with its retail component. The 30,000 sq.ft. of village center retail space will
house streetside shops for upscale retail tenants. Laser light shows, cafes and a variety
of restaurants will also be incorporated to add an entertainment element to the project. |
More than 2,300 acres of rolling hills and native oak trees
will serve as the backdrop for the first phase and focal point of the Porto Cima project,
an 18-hole Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Course that will be the only Signature Series
course in the state of Missouri. The course is designed to enhance the beauty of the
natural landscape and it will give the village of Porto Cima an added attraction.
According to Nicklaus, Its beautiful, its a great piece of property. If
you had to rate the property on a scale of 1-10, this certainly would be close to a
ten.
| In fact, the Lake of the Ozarks is an extremely
popular area for both vacationers and permanent residents. Four Seasons Realty is
constructing 100-150 units of housing that range from $500,000-$1.5 million per unit, and
almost all of them have been taken. Within two years, 600-700 homes will have been
completed. The Lake of the Ozarks is also in a central location that attracts visitors
from a variety of states including Arkansas, Illinois, Iowa, Oklahoma, Tennessee and
Texas. The 1987 completion of a bridge that spans the Lake of the Ozarks has made Four
Seasons a developmental force in the area since 1993. The very popular Lodge of Four
Seasons hotel and golf course established the developers as a leader in entertainment/
leisure projects. |
