Simply Books Sets The Trend

Simply Books in the Charlotte Douglas International Airport in Charlotte, North Carolina was designed by Chute Gerdeman of Columbus, Ohio to lure customers into a soothing, relaxing atmosphere. Airport shoppers are often on the lookout for books to read during their flights, but such reading material has typically been found in newstands and sundry shops.

This bookstore was designed with the recognition that travelers often have some time on their hands and might like to browse. It is inviting, convenient, and sensitive to traveller issues. Soft greens tempered by natural wood tones create a restful look. A counter offers convenient stools for a quick look through possible book choices, or comfortable chairs are available for those who have time to start reading their purchases. Checking the time is not a worry, as a large four-sided clock makes it clearly visible to all patrons. Simply Books Super-wide aisles allow customers to navigate passages without banging their luggage into other customers or store fixtures.   Airport retailing is a growing trend, and Simply Books is an example of savvy retailers who are realizing that travellers often have time — and money — to spend as they await their flights.
Simply Books is a proprietary brand of Host Marriott Services Corporation, 6600 Rockledge Drive, Bethesda, MD 20817; 301-380-7000.
